Deuteronomy 11:18- Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds...teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
In the midst of temper tantrums and battles of the will I am realizing the important role I have in making our home centered around Jesus-each moment, each hour that I can and think to. Previously I told myself Jack was too young to understand me talking to him about Jesus. But this passage convicts me and if I dont start now it will probably never feel comfortable. So the challenge Ive brought to myself these past few weeks is to pray with Jackson out loud, anytime I would normally pray to myself. It felt weird at first, but it's becoming more normal. Im not saying Ive got it all figured out. But rather that I have a lot to work on as a mom and it is definitely a process. Praying with my son throughout the day seems like the best way to get this process started.
What have we been praying for lately? Jen, Jeff, and Jen's family. over and over.

Wow,Em! That is a great idea! I hadn't thought of doing that. I'll have to remember that when this little one gets here. :)
ReplyDeleteI love that Em. I wish I had done more of that when you were little.
ReplyDeleteWe always held hands around the table before meals and prayed. If we would get busy and "forget", our kids would hold out their little hands and open them up, like "Don't forget to pray!" When we would go out to a restaurant, they would hold our their hands for our before-meal-prayers and (remembering Luke9:26) we would bow our heads, hold our hands and pray. We also prayed over them when we put them to bed, and when they got old enough we would invite them to pray with us. Most importantly, YOU ARE MODELING TO Jack Who you go to to meet your needs - Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. You are such a great mom, Em! Proud of you! Chris K
