B.F.F.

Last weekend was great. Some of our closest friends from college came to visit. It is always so refreshing being with people that have known us for a long time. All our quirky, crazy personalities come out and we can totally be ourselves...and find complete happiness in that :) It's also fun now that we have a baby and Korsmo's have a second on the way. It reminded Joel and I that life can feel normal again after a baby. A very good thing.

Snow Day

Random photos. Content with doing nothing and going nowhere on the snow days....especially when dad is home with us.

Grandpa

Last weekend we went to Minnesota to see Joel's family and for his sister's (christel) wedding reception. We had so much fun relaxing with family. Jackson got to meet his aunts and great grandparents for the first time-so it was a much needed vacation. We were nervous for the plane ride with a baby, but I dont think Jackson even realized we werent on the ground...a VERY good thing. He slept most of the time. The only problem we are starting to have is that Jackson knows when he is in someone else's arms besides Joel or I. He was confused for a little while, but it got better. I guess thats the downside of living so far from family. We will just have to see everyone more often! Above are some pics from the weekend....

Things I never dreamed I'd do.

I guess things change quite drastically when you become a mom.
I never thought I would...

1. Constantly use hand sanitizer and encourage others to do the same.
2. Shower in less than 5 minutes.
3. Shop online for diaper bags with my spare time and always want another.
4. Keep my phone on silent mode---"Dont wake the baby!"
5. Skip an episode of 24 or Lost.
6. Tell Dillon he can't get on the couch EVER AGAIN.
7. Care about buying the "soft" diapers (pampers please:).
8. Tell Joel I am too tired to go out to eat.
9. Eat kale and spinach everyday.
10. Shop for baby clothes before my own.
11. Love my stroller the way I do.

Pretty lame, but I have changed. A lot.

Jail Cell Nursery

Our life the past few days has consisted of Joel painting the baby room and me cheering him on. I will start by saying that I am NOT a decorator. I wish I was better at it. Anyway...I had the great idea for a blue and brown baby nursery. The colors were not the problem, it was what I did with the colors that created a jail cell for poor little Jackson. :)
For whatever reason I thought it sounded like a good idea to paint the whole room aqua and make the brown stripes only 3 inches thick and 12 inches apart (Note to self: when painting stripes, make darn sure the width of each stripe is the same). So my amazing husband excitedly got out the paint on Sunday and diligently started this tedious job. About 15 hours of hard work went into these perfectly taped and caulked lines only to find that we really did have a cage for a baby nursery. We thought about adding stupid animals to go between the stripes, but that idea lasted about a second. Needless to say, Joel was not very happy with me when I made him paint a solid aqua wall over the stripes that he spent his whole Sunday and two week nights painting. So, here are the pics of before and after the jail cell went down. Oh and if your wondering why we didnt just salvage the stripes and make the brown thicker-well anyone who has ever painted stripes before knows that if you do that the dimensions get comletely screwed up. What a mess!

A Fun Weekend

We are so glad that we have been able to see so much of the family since Jackson has been born. Jeff and his girlfriend Jen came out for a quick weekend.

*Sleep*

I laugh at myself now....before Jackson was born I thought I already had the whole mommy thing figured out. My heart was set on using the ideas from a book that I thought would produce a perfectly rested and sleep through the night kind of baby. Ha! I was going to only feed him when he was hungry (no snacking). I was not to use any "props" to get him to sleep...meaning no noise boxes, sleep incline pillows, pacifiers, or even me rocking him to a sweet state of slumber. This was in hopes that he would learn how to fall asleep on his own...without the help of me or any other object. I was also to keep him awake after each feeding in order to produce more productive naps. Ha! So here is how we are doing....Aside from the somewhat scheduled feedings, I now have Jackson completely addicted to the pacifer, being swaddled before bedtime, a rainy type white noise from the noise box I bought last week, falling asleep in my arms, and not staying awake after he has been fed. Yikes...Im trying though. Giving it my best. I havent completely neglected the book I thought to be so perfect. Just doing it our own way I guess. I am happy to announce though that Joel and I had our first 7 full and continuous hours of sleep last night since pre baby days. We will see if tonight brings the same sweet dreams :)
