st. loooeeeee
My cousin David got married last weekend. So...Jackson and I traveled to Omaha and then on to St. Louis. It was a great time reuniting with family and catching up with cousins I havent seen in FOREVER. The only bummer was that Joel had to stay home due to dwindling vacation days :( We had fun though and Jackson had A LOT of firsts. Pretty much right when we got off the plane I noticed a tooth popping out of Jackson's gums. His first one! Then he started waving and clapping. I think he must have been really excited with all the people around, because since we've been back home he hasnt really done much with the hands. I keep trying though and make a fool out of myself as I'm either waving or clapping at him pretty much everywhere we go!
I had some technical difficulties with the photos, but here they are. Finally.
almost all of us.

downtown and trying to entertain Jackson while we waited 2 hours to be seated at a resaurant that Obama supposedly loves.

my baby is better than your baby....
The only thing that is not so cool about meeting moms that have babies close in age to your own is that it can quickly become a game to see who's baby is the smartest/fastest/most interactive. I really don't think it's just my imagination.
A few days ago I met a mom who has an eight month old baby as well. Once we started talking she was quick to tell me all the amazing things her baby was doing. Here is how the conversation went...
Other lady: "So it looks like our babies are the same age. Is he crawling yet?"
Me: "Almost, but not yet."
Other lady: "Really?! My girl is crawling all over the place!" "How about dada? Is he saying dada yet?"
Me: "Kind of....."
Other lady: Looks down at her little girl and says "we say dada ALL the time, dont we sweetie."
Me: "That's nice, she's very cute." Followed by me slowly walking away.
So.....Ive decided I have a love/hate relationship with healthy growth indicators. They are great for measuring developmental milestones, but not so sweet when used for one-upping the other mommy. Though I might think my baby is the coolest kid around, I hope I can always remember I'm the only one who thinks that way :)

back to the blogging world
Things have been kind of busy for us. Every time I think about sitting down to put some pictures up, Jackson's nose needs to be wiped or there is a dirty diaper waiting for me:) He seems to be over his first cold though and we are doing much better.
We had some friends in town for Labor day, so we spent the weekend sightseeing. We hit up the Boulder Farmers Market (amazing by the way), downtown Denver, and went on a hike at Eldorado Canyon.
Other than that, just living the day to day. Doing good and enjoying this cloudy cold weekend.

Ga Ga.
Last weekend my parents came to visit! It was a last minute decision on their part and we couldn't have been happier to have them. Sometimes (well most of the time for me) we long to be in the company of our family. We love Colorado, but some days family feels so far away. It was a relaxing weekend and so nice to be able to go out to eat and have Grandma and Grandpa hold Jackson during dinner instead of Joel and I taking turns :)
